טוב ללכת אל בית אבל (קהלת ז' ב')

It is better to go to the house of mourning (Kohelet 7:2)

Shiva is a very difficult time for the Aveilim in so many ways. So many people mobilize, springing into Chessed mode when hearing of a family observing Shiva: From preparing the house, to caring for the children, to bringing food (to be frank- too much food), and of course the hundreds of people who visit day and night. All this trying to fulfill the Mitzvah of Nichum Aveilim - comforting the mourners - as best possible.

The reality is that one of the most uncomfortable things that many mourners experience during Shiva is the uncertainty of having a Minyan at home when needed, and the stress and anxiousness that the mourners feel as the appointed time approaches every morning and evening, and there is not yet a minyan (not to mention when they have to get on the phone and call men and ask them to come over quickly).

So we need a few men to be ready to stand up and be counted for the daily Shiva minyan. Please join our Shiva Minyan Rapid Response Team on Whatsapp through the link below so we can respond to the needs of our friends and neighbors and community members here in Efrat and bring them comfort in their time of need.

The mechanics are simple. Anyone that knows of a Shiva will post the minyan times on a daily basis and if you can attend, please post a response that you plan to come. Once ten men respond we will all know that there is a minyan for that home that evening or the next morning. Of course, more than ten men are welcome to attend and if the Aveilim already know of a particular number of people attending, that information will be posted and less than ten men will be needed. As an added benefit, if a need arises to change the time of a particular Shiva minyan it will be easy to do so and to guarantee a minyan.
