Accessibility in the Efrat Local Council
The Efrat Local Council considers it very important to provide equal, professional, accessible, and dignified service to all residents and to improve the service provided to residents with disabilities.
The Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Act of 1998 emphasizes that a person with a disability is an equal person by virtue of being a person and defines Israeli society's obligation to ensure equality and respect for a person with a disability.
Objectives of the Equality Law:
Protect the dignity and freedom of people with disabilities.
To enable the equal and active participation of people with disabilities in all areas of life so that they can fully utilize their abilities.
To adequately address the special needs of people with disabilities in a way that will allow them to live with maximum independence, privacy, and dignity.
Anchor the right of people with disabilities to make decisions concerning their lives, according to their wishes and preferences.
Discrimination against people with disabilities in the provision of services is prohibited, and there is an obligation to provide equal services in an inclusive environment.
Accessibility is one of the basic conditions for exercising the right of people with disabilities to equality. Therefore, the law requires organizations to make their services and service locations accessible to people with disabilities.
According to the law, accessibility is the possibility of arriving at a location, and being able to move, orient, use, enjoy the service, receive the information provided or produced within or in connection to the place of service, use the facilities, and participate in programs and activities, all in an equal, dignified, independent, and safe manner. (Definitions, Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998).
In accordance with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law 1998 and regulations enacted under it, the Efrat Local Council invests a great deal of effort and resources in making services accessible to all residents, so that residents with disabilities receive the services equally, and integrate into society and the public as a whole, and lead a comfortable life by way of equality, respect, and independence.
Accordingly, the Efrat Local Council works to make all the services, activities and buildings in the Authority accessible.
Accessibility of buildings - by law all places where service is provided to the public must be accessible.
Accessibility of service - Efrat Local Council believes that every resident deserves the best service that can be offered and works to adapt the service to each resident according to his needs.
Accessibility of information - The council's website meets all the criteria set out in the law for accessibility on the accessibility bar website for viewing in black and white - designed for the color-blind, high-contrast viewing for the visually impaired, keyboard shortcuts, mouse-free browsing, and controlling the size of the text for the disabled.
The site is responsive and active on all platforms and browsers. We continue to invest a lot of effort in making the site accessible. Sometimes there is a technological problem in implementing full accessibility in internet solutions and parts of the site that are not yet accessible may be improved.
