Business Registration

The Business Licensing Law, 1968, imposes a licensing and supervision obligation on many types of businesses, and is intended to ensure the following:

1. Adequate quality of the environment and prevention of hazards and nuisances.

2. Prevention of dangers to public safety, and security against robbery and burglary.

3. Safety of those located in or around the business.

4. Prevention of dangers of animal diseases and prevention of contamination of water sources with pesticides, fertilizers, or drugs.

5. Public health including adequate sanitation.

6. Compliance with the laws relating to planning and construction and fire services.

Every town has a licensing board which has the authority to issue business licenses. The license ensures that all appropriate measures and arrangements have been taken for the proper operation of the business in accordance with the purposes of the law, for the benefit of the general public.

Applications for a business license are submitted to the Business Licensing Department, and must be examined by the local committee/engineering department regarding the permitted uses of the land where the business is located.

We recommend that you avoid unnecessary financial expenses, by first checking with the offices of the local committee and the business licensing department, regarding the possibility of opening a business in a particular place.

Additional licensing entities are:

Ministry of Health, Police, Environment, Fire Authority, Ministry of Economy and possibly other parties in accordance with the request.

Any business that operates without a license will be prosecuted.

The Efrat Local Council and the Local Licensing Board will do their best to assist business owners in obtaining the necessary approvals from the relevant bodies, in order to ensure business activity as required by law.

At the same time, the Council and the Local Licensing Board expect business owners to cooperate fully to ensure that the approvals are obtained, and to complete the requirements of the various ministries to procure a license.
