QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH REGARD TO THE EFRAT-GUSH ETZION CHAMPIONSHIP RACE

 

Dear Efrat Residents,

 

With regard to the championship race that will take place on Friday, May 12, 2017, we gathered together commonly asked questions and answers. The information is intended for residents and runners.

 

Will there be school on Friday?

In Efrat:

Kindergartens – will open as usual

Elementary Schools – classes will begin at 09:00.

High Schools – please get an update from the school.

In Gush Etzion:

Classes as usual in the entire education system.

 

 

What are the changes in the transportation hours for Efrat students:

For educational institutions in Efrat:

Students from the neighborhoods of Tamar, Dagan, Zayit and Dekel learning in Orot Etzion Boys and Girls Schools– the buses will come an hour later than usual.

Students from the neighborhoods of Rimon and Te'ana, learning at the Orot Etzion Boys and Girls Schools - the buses will start their rounds at 9:30.

 

Special Education Transportation to Jerusalem, Beitar and Beit Shemesh – The Efrat Education Department will contact all of the students' families to inform them of the pick-up time.

Special Education Transportation to Gush Etzion – The Efrat Education Department will contact all of the students' families to inform them of pick-up time.

Transportation to the Ulpanot – As usual. Students of the Te'ena and Rimon neighborhoods will be picked-up at the bus stop near Kikar Eitan only in the direction of south. 

Transportation to the Gush Etzion Regional School – Please check in the Efrat Education Department 02-9939338

Return transportation from the schools to Efrat will be as usual.

 

Are there changes in public transportation from Jerusalem to Efrat?

There are no changes except that the buses will not go into the neighborhoods of Te'ena and Rimon.

 

What are the changes in public transportation from Efrat to Jerusalem?

1.      All the changes refer to hours between 6:30-9:45 only.

2.      The 167 bus line will operate according to the route of the 169 bus line.

3.      The 169 bus line will not enter into the Te'ena and Rimon neighborhoods.

4.      The 169 bus line will pick up passengers in the bus stops from the north to the south. The route will be through Netzach Yerushalayim, Gefen Street, Kikar Eitan and the southern exit.

 


 

Starting a what time will the traffic return to its regular routine?

We expect that starting at 08:30 it will be possible to travel from the Gefen neighborhood in the direction of north to the northern exit of Efrat.  It is expected that the Te'ena and Rimon neighborhoods and the southern exit, will return to its regular traffic routine starting at 9:30.

 

When is it advisable for me to leave or enter Efrat in order to avoid the blocked traffic?

Route 60 and Machsom Haminharot (Tunnels Check Point) will be closed to traffic between the hours of 05:45 – 06:45. The northern entrance will be closed to traffic between the hours of 06:30 – 07:30. The southern entrance will be closed between the hours of 07:00 – 09:30.

 

Is it possible to travel from Efrat to Tzomet HaGush and Jerusalem?

It is expected that after the hour of 08:30, one can leave Efrat to the Gush without any problem through the northern gate, except for residents of the Te'ena and Rimon who will be able to leave at 09:30.

 

How can one travel within Efrat on the day of the race?

One can travel within Efrat in all the neighborhoods starting at 08:30 except for the Te'ena and Rimon neighborhoods which will open up for traffic starting at 09:30.

 

When will it be possible to get to the shopping centers in Efrat?

It will be possible to get to the Dekel Shopping Center starting at 08:30 to those coming from the north or through Netzach Yerushalayim. It will be possible to get to the shopping center in the Te'ena after the hour of 09:30.

 

I work in Efrat – how am I supposed to enter?

It is recommended to enter Efrat till the hour of 06:00.

Between the hours of 06:00- 7:30, it will not be possible to enter Efrat.

Starting at 07:30 one can reach Efrat via Route 60 – northern entrance till Zerubavel Street and from there you will be directed to the service road in the part between it and Kikar Rachel Emanu on Sderot David Hamelech – traffic from north to south only.

Starting at 08:30 it will be possible to enter Efrat via Route 60 northern entrance till the Gefen

Neighborhood (through Netzach Yerushalayim).

Starting at 09:30, return to regular routine including the southern entrance.

 

I work in Jerusalem – how am I supposed to travel there?

It is recommended to reach Jerusalem till the hour of 05:45 or after 06:45.

Please be advised that there several races being planned in the streets of the city on this day. It is recommended to get updates from the national media.

 

Is travel on the security paths permissible?

No! It is forbidden to travel on the security paths/roads just like it is forbidden on an ordinary day.

In addition, part of the race's route will pass on the security paths.

 

Will workers be allowed to enter Efrat on the day of the race?

Workers will not be allowed to enter Efrat.


 

I signed up for the race. How can I get the kit?

The kit can be picked up on Wednesday and Thursday, May 10 and 11 in Matnas Efrat between the hours of 14:00 – 20:00.

Those that signed up for the half-marathon can pick up the kit on the morning of the race starting at 05:00 at the takeoff point.

Distribution of the kits to outside runners (runs: 10,5,2) will be on the day of the race between the hours of 06:00 – 08:30 at the takeoff point only for those that signed up in advance via mail: sportweb@matnasim.org.il

 

How will school students receive the kits?

Students who wrote on the registration form the name of the school they attend, will receive the kit through the sports teacher of the school.

 

How does one get to the takeoff point in Jerusalem?

Transportation will leave Efrat at 05:00 from the parking lot of the Moetza.

Transportation back to Jerusalem at 10:00 from the corner of Netzach Yerushalayim and Gefen Streets near the grocery store underneath the park.

 

Where can one park cars?

For those traveling to Jerusalem to participate in the half-marathon- park in the parking lot of the Moetza.

For those participating in the 10 and the 5 kilometer run:

Those coming from outside of Efrat should park in the area of the Gush Etzion Industrial Park and will arrive close to the takeoff point by provided transportation.

Residents of Efrat should park on streets near to the takeoff point on the basis of available places.

 

Where is the takeoff point and what are the takeoff hours?

For the 21 kilometers run – the takeoff point is at 06:00 from the junction of Derech Hebron and Rosmarin.

 

Takeoff Hours from Park Ha'asor:

10 km – 07:30

5 km – 08:30

2 km – 09:00

 

Is there a place where items can be stored?

There will be a place in Park Ha'asor in Efrat for all participants. (Those running the 21 km run will leave belongings in Jerusalem and pick them up in Efrat.)

 

At what hour will the Medals Ceremony take place?

At 09:30 in Park Ha'asor.

 

What is the kashrut on the gel distributed to the runners?

The gel has the kashrut of Badatz South Africa.
